1. Care For Your Customers
If you have an emotional connection with your customers, they are more likely to support you when times get tough.
That may seem obvious, but it can be forgotten easily. You have to show genuine care for your customers and let them know that you’re willing to go the extra mile for them. If not, what is the point of running a business anyway?
You’ve got to communicate and take care of your customers in the good times and the bad, making sure that you don’t go into hiding if a problem comes up. As Tej Kohli from Kohli Ventures says, “It’s not what you know; it’s who you know.”
2. Avoid the Risk
When some major negative things affect your business, it’s easy to be reminded of them. There are news headlines everywhere; talking heads love to discuss what will happen to small businesses, large businesses, and everyone in between.
It’s essential to use the bad times to prepare for the good times. If something happens and you can’t make sales for a while, ask yourself how stable is your business and how long can it last?
We’ve seen recent news headlines where some businesses are concerned about paying rent just a few weeks into being shut down. It should be clear that those businesses aren’t operating with the best financial practices.
No one likes to sit around and think about bad times when everything runs smoothly, but it can be a lifesaver when you hit those rough patches down the road.
3. Above All Else, Communicate
Communication is the key to a successful business. If you don’t know how to reach your customers, you’re in the problem. On top of that, you need to be clear when it comes to communicating with them. If you send out an email on Monday, can your customers still expect that plan remains the same on Wednesday?
It doesn’t serve any purpose to be wishy-washy or to show poor leadership by changing your mind constantly. If you are the face of your business, you need to set the course and show people that you know what you are doing.
Things will always change over time. However, you need to show a commitment to the promises that you make and the plans that you set into action, or else you’ll be left with a customer base that doesn’t trust your announcements anymore.
4. Spend Time on Marketing and Sales
So when the last time you went out to sell something? When was the last time you actively searched for clients?
You shouldn’t stop making efforts to attract new customers, or waiting for them to come to you instead.
That is what we call faith marketing. It implies waiting in your office for clients to appear almost as if by magic.
So we advise you to spend time on marketing, promotion, and sales. There must also be a team or time dedicated to attracting new customers because there is no company without customers.

5. Create a sales process that reports customers consistently and predictably
There would be no company without customers. And just like you need to eat several times a day, your company also needs clients regularly.
So the goal is to have a predictable customer flow.
In other words, you need to attract customers regularly, considering the characteristics of your company or your sector.
One of the reasons sales are not working well is because there is no defined process. That is also known as a workflow.
When you define your sales process, you’re determining all the steps that a potential customer must take to become a regular customer.
And it is surprising because many companies do not have this. Clients come to them from they do not know where and each of them is offered a different experience because there is nothing defined.
So think about this and write down what the ideal sales process would look like in your company.
Think of all the steps: how the user discovers you, how he contacts your company, what he needs to buy, how the proposal is sent to him, how the service or product is offered to him, etc.
Next, ask yourself if you can improve that process in any way.
You should spread a positive message to your customers, and be prepared for all kinds of problems that can come up in the process. Besides that – don’t forget the crucial factor, which is – your clients or customers keep your business running!
